My practice is exclusively focused on helping people improve their relationships, mood, and effectiveness at work and school. I specialize in helping individuals and couples revitalize their relationships, recover from affairs, and in working with clients who identify as sexual minorities. Many clients worry about finding a therapist that can help them manage intense relationship conflict or accept them as they are. I help my clients by using a structured approach that helps them deescalate conflict, reconnect and really listen to each other's hopes and dreams. I also provide a space that is accepting regardless of sexual orientation, sexual expression, gender identity or relationship configuration.
I have completed Level 3 Practicum Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and I use Gottman Method Couples Therapy in my work. While most most of my work is with couples, I also work with individuals using using both Time Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy and techniques from the Gottman Method.
Many couples put off counseling due to hectic schedules because of work and family obligations. I offer appointments during evenings and weekends to better accommodate my clients' busy schedules. In order to meet best standards in couples therapy practice, my couples sessions are 90 minutes instead of 45 minutes.
Clients who come to me for individual therapy can expect a thorough assessment at the outset of therapy. I tailor my individual therapy sessions to fit my clients' goals. While I use a variety of tools of techniques, I tend to draw upon cognitive-behavioral techniques most often. I believe that therapy should be informative and time-limited and I often use readings and out of session homework assignments with my clients. Individual therapy sessions are usually 45 minutes.
